2 Drive in beaches of Kerala

There are two drive in beach in Kerala.

  • Muzhappilangad beach in Kannur
  • Thikkodi beach in Kozhikode district near Koyilandy.

Muzhappilangad beach

Muzhappilangad beach is a famous beach but Thikkodi is a lesser-known drive-in beach.

Muzhappilangad beach which is of 4.5 kilometers is the longest drive-in beach in Asia. It's a peaceful beach and is for those who love adventure.

You can take your vehicle for a drive on the beach, but beware the salty seawater can corrode the metal parts of your vehicle.

Thikkodi beach

Thikkodi Beach is 36 km away from Kozhikode (Calicut) city. It is a 1-hour drive from Kozhikode via NH-16 or NH-66. The nearest main railway station is Kozhikode railway station. Thikkodi Railway Station is 2.2 Km away from Thikkodi beach but only a few trains stop here. You can take a taxi (cab) or bus to reach the beach.

Thikkodi beach is one of the unexplored drive-in beaches of Kerala. It's the only drive-in beach in the Kozhikode district. The advantage of the Thikkodi beach is it has hard-packed sand which suits for driving. Another attraction is the lighthouse on the Thikkodi beach. Kadalur point lighthouse is locally known by the name Thikkodi lighthouse or Nandhi lighthouse. See other lighthouses of Kerala here.
